Don’t over groom your alpaca.
It disturbs the crimp and lock structure of the
fleece. You will do better if you pick the fleece
even though it may not be perfect clean. |

Practice with your animals so that
they will be familiar with having their fleece examined
at the shoulder middle side and rump. |

Be prepared to show your alpaca’s
teeth to the judge. |

Walk your alpacas around before
the class to help them relax and loosen up. Before
the show begins, walk them in the ring to get them
used to the surface. |

Be sure that your alpaca’s
halter fits properly. If you’re unsure, ask
for help. An alpaca supply vendor will be at the
show if you need a halter. |

Watch the judge, smile relax and
have fun. Don’t be afraid to ask for help or
advice from your fellow exhibitors; alpaca people
are friendly, helpful bunch. |
