2009 Identification and Veterinary Health Certificate Requirements

Identification Requirements for all ALPACAS

In accordance with the AOBA Show Rules, all alpacas entering the facility for the PAOBA Breeders Showcase must be micro-chipped.  The Micro-Chip ID# of each alpaca must appear on the Health Certificate.  Please bring a copy of the Health Certificate with you to give to the Show Superintendent who will keep it as part of the their permanent show records

Veterinary Health Certificate Requirements

Alpacas from within Pennsylvania

A Veterinary Health Certificate (CVI): for ALL alpacas, regardless of age, completed and signed by a licensed Veterinarian from Pennsylvania within 30 days of the last date of the show. ( Last date of the show is May 10th, 2009

Additional Health Tests Required by the PAOBA Breeders Showcase for Entrance into the Show:

  1. All Alpacas entering the show must have been tested and have a negative PCR test result for Bovine Viral Diarrhea.  The test date and results should be listed on the health certificate.   Please contact

Alpacas from out of the State

Out of state alpacas coming to the PAOBA Breeder’s Showcase need not have a TB test if they come from a TB free state. There are only 4 states that are not considered TB Free. They are Michigan, Minnesota, New Mexico, and California. Any animals coming from these 4 states will need a negative TB test. All out of state alpacas will still be required to be tested for Brucellosis.
A Veterinary Health Certificate (CVI): for ALL alpacas, regardless of age, completed and signed by a licensed Veterinarian from the state of origin within 30 days of the last date of the show. AND ( Last Date of the Show is May 10th, 2009)
Alpacas, 12 months of age or older, shall be brucellosis-test negative no more than sixty (60) days prior to the event. AND
Alpacas, 12 months of age or older, shall be tuberculin-test negative no more than ninety (90) days prior to the event. AND

THE METHOD OF IDENTIFICATION (ear tag, microchip, etc.) MUST BE LISTED ON YOUR VETERINARY HEALTH CERTIFICATE. Alpacas entering PA MUST be individually identified by:

  1. A unique ear tag or microchip issued by the state or country of origin or
  2. A permanent tag or unique device.
